BORN TO RACE
Tya Cunningham Embarks on Rookie Season at PIR
Some people learn to race; other people are born to race. Tya Cunningham comes from a family of racing and is embarking on her rookie season at Paducah International Raceway.
“It gives me a way to interact with my dad,” Tya commented on what led her to racing.
Tya’s dad, Tim Cunningham raced Late Models at PIR. These are some of her first memories of racing.
“I remember being so excited when he won his first race,” Tya recalled this as her fondest race memory. It is obvious to see that Tim has had the biggest influence on her desire to race and will continue to maintain that positive influence throughout her racing career.
Tya plans on racing exclusively at Paducah International Raceway, at least for the 2010 season. She hopes to move up the dirt track ranks and sees herself racing Street Stocks in five years. She then aspires to be racing Late Models.
Big dreams for a young lady. Tya is a 12-year old student at Calloway County Middle School in Murray, Kentucky. Her hobbies include swimming and drawing.
Her 2010 sponsors include Cunningham Motorsports, Justice Brothers, Zax's Screen Printing, Napa of Murray, Cunningham Machine, Cain’s Murray Auto Auction, Interstate Battery of Murray, The Murray Banquet Center, and White Works Motorsports. Be sure to head to PIR to root for Tya during her first season. How great would it be to be there to see her first win?
