DYLAN THOMPSON ENDS THE SEASON IN VICTORY LANE
Davenport, Sweeney, Mason, Clark, and Lang Pick Up Wins

Paducah International Raceway would like to thank all the fans and drivers who came out for the Season Championships and Budweiser Race Night on Friday, October 1st. On a night where four Championships were decided, here is how it went down when the dust settled…

In Super Late Model action, the points battle came down to two favorites- 1993 UMP National Champion Randy Sellars and defending Track Champion Kevin Cole. With a good turn out of Late Models, three Heat races were held with Sellars, Terry English, and Jason McBride each picking up a win. 2008 Track Champion Dylan Thompson showed he still knew how to tame the high-banked oval when he took the checkered flag in the night’s Feature race. McBride finished second, followed by Jim Moon in third, Kevin Cole was fourth, followed by Shaun Flint in the fifth spot. Randy Sellars finished sixth, Joey Mack was seventh, Lee Thomason eighth, Chris Shelton ninth, and Mike Jessup completed the Top-10. Congratulations to the 2010 Super Late Model Champion Kevin Cole.

The Pro (Crate) Late Models came down to top contenders—points leader Cary King and defending Champion Tait Davenport. Emily Crowell ended the season in style when she picked up her first Heat win in the first Heat race.  Credence “Credo” Mott won the second Heat. Davenport picked up the Feature win, followed by Mott in second, Jeffrey Bailey was third, Matt Liner fourth, and Ricky Waggoner rounded out the Top-five. Cary King finished sixth, Emily Crowell was seventh, Jeff Patterson eighth, Steve Cole ninth, and Austin Flint took home the 10th spot. Congratulations to the 2010 Pro (Crate) Late Model Champion Cary King.

The closest points battle was in the Modified division where leader Justin Houston held an eight-point advantage over second-place Rod Reed. Houston and Clayton Miller each picked up a Heat win with Randle Sweeney taking the checkered in the Feature race. Will Krup took home the second spot, followed by Clayton Miller in third, Justin Houston finished in the fourth spot, with Justin Story rounding out the Top-five. Rod Reed finished sixth, Steve Ladd seventh, Tim Burdel eighth, Robert Leach ninth, and Tim Ellington completed the Top-10. Congratulations to the 2010 Modified Champion Justin Houston.

The Street Stock Championship boiled down to a 21-point battle between leader and defending Champion JR Mason and second-place Tony Cruse. In the two Heat races that were held, Mason and Keaton Downing each picked up a victory. Mason returned to Victory Lane in the night’s Feature event. Steve Hobbs finished second, followed by Orin Naramore in third, Keaton Downing was fourth, and Brent Burnett went home in the fifth spot. Michael Hendrickson finished sixth, Michael Watson seventh, Terry Jones eighth, WR Noe was ninth, and Tony Cruse finished in the 10th spot. Congratulations to the 2010 Street Stock Champion JR Mason.

Kyle Clark dominated the 4-Cylinder Warrior division this season, holding as much as a 154-point lead over second-place. Not surprisingly, he sealed his Championship bid a few weeks ago, but there was still one more race to be won at the Season Championships. Clark won the first Heat with Joseph Mullins taking the checkered in the second Heat. Clark went on to Victory Lane once again in the Feature race. Hunter Lyles finished second, followed by Joseph Mullins in third, Kerry Reed was fourth, and Gayle Edwards rounded out the Top-five. Monty Edwards finished sixth, followed by Jay Tindal in seventh, Cody Seibert was eighth, Angie Norwood ninth, and Kendall Clark finished 10th. Congratulations to the 2010 4-Cylinder Warrior Champion Kyle Clark.

In another Championship battle that was decided early, Kassidi Gibbs will go down in history as PIR’s first ever High-School Warrior Champion. Two Heat races led up to the night’s Feature Special which was sponsored by Brothers BBQ of Murray. Gibbs and Alex Lang picked up a Heat win a piece, with Lang returning to Victory Lane in the Feature Special. Amanda Bailey finished second, followed by Kasondra Edwards in third, Tya Cunningham was fourth, Blake Martin fifth, AJ Keeling sixth, Kassidi Gibbs seventh, and Cameron Meredith completed the field in the eighth spot. Congratulations to the 2010 High-School Warrior Champion Kassidi Gibbs.
